Our Mission is to pay tribute to and commemorate the remarkable contributions of individuals of afro descent both historically & contemporary through an annual flagship event and supplementary programming that places special emphasis on showcasing the talents and potential of our youth!

History of our event

Our Black History program started 20+ years ago at True Vine Baptist Church emphasizing the vast contributions of African Americans past and present.

During our event, we showcase our youth and community members and their talents in art, dance, music and speech. We promote community partners,  feature Black-owned food vendors, and lead into community  discussions  to build up our community and identify issues such as challenges with access, mental health, education, etc.

Our program reinforces that African history is American history and connects all who participate.  Our program recently partnered with Rise Virtual Academy. Rise teaches Black history to youth K-12th grade virtually once a week throughout the year.

We believe providing these options will empower and educate our youth and provide unique experiences and opportunities to our youth and community.
